(Discreet) Warfare

I'm 20.USMC.Cpl.2844.Radio Tech.

I've just started and I'm never slowing down.

(Not my main blog)
It was my Grandfather’s memorial service today at the same church which three years ago, my Grandmother had hers. They were both cremated and buried side-by-side. My Father managed to take this photo of my friend (Left) and I (Right) in our uniforms.

For the service, I dressed up in my blues to show proper respect for my Grandfather who had served in the Air Force with the rank of Lt. Colonel. As the honor guard folded and presented the flag to my family, I stood there saluting. There was a 21 Gun Salute, played simultaneously with TAPS. It was about the hardest thing to keep my salute straight and my bearing intact at that current moment in time. Just as the rifles shot and the first notes of TAPS played, my arm and hand were shaking uncontrollably, my jaw clenched down tighter, and I collected all the self-control in my body to not cry, yet two tears still fell. The flag was handed over and I cut my salute.

I really loved you Grandpops. I hope I did you proud today. As much as everyone said you talked about me in such a good light, I just really hope you we’re happy with today and your entire life.

Finally got around to uploading some pictures from Color guard. I didn’t want to overload you all with a ton of photos, but these are the ones I thought looked the best. Going to add a few blooper shots soon too. Stay tuned.

bare-with-me:

Us Marine Color Guard

Oh, so I made Color Guard recently. I’ll put pictures up soon of the last even we did. It’s pretty legit…

BTW, the flag bearers are holding the guideon incorrectly. It’s only one hand.

This was the 2ND Marine Division run on Camp Lejeune which took place on April 20, 2012. I was actually in this 3 mile Division run that morning and saw this Marine running with us. Most motivating to see him running by, happy as hell mind you, for having the ability to run with us. I see everyday how some of my peers’ attitude are down the drain, and seeing this guy makes me feel like none of us have an excuse.

Anyway, about the run, by the time we finished the 3 miles in ~34 minutes, the last unit in the Division was just starting to double time. There were more than 6,000 Marines there that day running. Freaking intense man.

“Momma Dog” I can instant relate to what he does to keep himself awake. It’s never been this bad on duty, but you do start talking to yourself.

Self-powered, Ammo Can Two-Speaker Boom Box.

Found this at work today. Probably the sweetest thing I’ve seen military gear-wise.
